My #1 Life-Changing Habit to Take Into The New Year
As we make our way into the new year, let's talk about resolutions that actually matter. As a leading Cosmetic Facial Plastic Surgeon in Beverly Hills, I’m here to spill my ultimate life-changing skincare tip – aka laser treatments. See why zapping your way to radiant skin is the coolest habit you'll adopt in 2024.
Recently, I was interviewed for Poosh’s article titled, 10 Life-Changing Habits To Take Into The New Year to weigh in on my thoughts around new skincare trends and innovations I foresee withstanding the test of time:
“When we think of lasers at the derm, we think high-powered. Aggressive payment plans. Days, maybe weeks of downtime. But wait. Although that can all be true, depending on the laser, there are tons of different intensities, wavelengths, and purposes for various lasers out there. Some of them, like the V Beam red laser at double-board certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Lauren Moy’s office, are done in five minutes with zero redness or downtime and major results. We will be seeing a lot more laser skincare options this coming year.”

Laser Resurfacing is Your New Year's Resolution
If you’re looking to start the year with flawless skin, laser treatments are the perfect option, smoothing those little lines and erasing spots that sneakily appeared over the years.
Depending on the skin concern, going under the knife sometimes isn’t necessary, especially when lasers can work their magic with minimal trauma to the skin. At Moy MD, we love laser resurfacing because it helps reduce the appearance of aging and allows our patients to experience minimal downtime, giving them ample time to return back to their daily activities easily. Laser resurfacing will benefit people who have fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, chickenpox scars, photodamaged skin, liver spots, lesions, and post-facelift non-responsive skin. Early intervention and regular treatment/procedures can help maintain youthful and healthy skin for the most natural look. Lasers are also great in parallel with other surgical procedures as a way to elevate the skin. I discuss this further in detail here.
What is a laser resurfacing procedure like?
There are two common types of laser resurfacing: CO2 laser treatment and erbium laser treatment. We offer both at our location.
CO2 Laser Resurfacing
CO2 laser resurfacing helps our patients see optimal results in terms of skin texture, tone, and elasticity. This remarkable technology stimulates collagen production, diminishes fine lines, and minimizes imperfections, leading to an overall rejuvenated complexion. Not to mention, CO2 treatments are the most effective lasers to prevent skin cancers and can also help to tighten the skin tissue with little bleeding or damage to the surrounding tissue.
Erbium Laser Resurfacing
Erbium laser resurfacing is one of the most popular, go-to devices to offer global improvement in skin texture, tone, and fine lines on the face, neck, chest, and hands. By removing surface skin damage, it treats photoaging, fine lines, poor texture, and acne scarring. With Erbium, there is less downtime and a quicker healing process in comparison to CO2, and is generally considered a more gentle option.
So, there you have it – my not-so-secret weapon for kicking off the year with a bang. Laser skincare treatments aren't just a beauty trend; they're an effective form of skincare that I utilize daily in my practice. Because it’s not just about looking good, it’s about being able to confidently enter the world with your head held high.
